Vic pair arrested after gun, drug find

A Melbourne man and woman have been arrested after a gun, ammunition and drugs were found during a routine police intercept.

Police stopped a motorcycle that they say was displaying false number plates in the south eastern suburb of Noble Park at about 12.40am (AEDT).

They searched the male rider and female pillion passenger and found the firearm, ammunition and small amount of drugs.

Both were arrested at the scene and the 28-year-old Noble Park man and the 24-year-old Pakenham woman are helping police with their inquiries.

The motorcycle was also impounded.
