'Spread love': Victorian mum backs Health Minister against vaccine trolls

Victorian mother Nathalie Delahunty wants the anti-vaccination trolls who've been attacking the state's health minister online to "spread love" instead of abuse.

Ms Delahunty gave birth to her second child, baby Micah, on Tuesday and today she was lending her support to Health Minister Jill Hennessy's efforts to strike back against abusive anti-vaxxers.

Speaking at the Royal Women's Hospital in Melbourne, the mother-of-two said she, her husband and their five-year-old daughter had all been vaccinated.

Little Micah will be too, Ms Delahunty insisted, "because we want to send our children into the community and raise them knowing we are helping prevent the spread of disease".

To those stridently opposed to Australia's vaccination program the mother stated: "Get on board."

"We want to continue living in a healthy community and send our children to schools and a health system that is benefiting all of us," Ms Delahunty told reporters in her hospital room.

"We've done our bit so it'd be nice if other people could too."

Ms Delahunty suggested the trolls who've been attacking the health minister online should "spread love" instead of abuse.

Health authorities recommend babies should be vaccinated for whooping cough and influenza from eight weeks and six months respectively.

New parents should also be immunised to help protect their newborns.
