Vic man arrested over homemade firearm

A man arrested at a Melbourne railway station has been found with what is believed to be a homemade firearm down his pants.

Three protective services officers were patrolling Springvale railway station when they became aware of a man with no myki card on Monday evening.

The man gave his personal details, but checks by the officers found he did not match the photograph to the name he gave.

The man was then arrested and was found by police to have what is believed to be a home-made firearm down the front of his pants.

A bag of unidentified white powder was also found.

The man, aged in his 20s, was taken to the Dandenong Police Station where he remains in custody.

He is expected to be charged with firearms offences.
