Police to increase presence in Melbourne following alleged terror plot

More police will be on the street during the Christmas holiday period after police foiled an alleged terror plot aimed at major Melbourne landmarks.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews promised a beefed up police presence to reassure the public and extra security will be in and around the MCG for the Boxing Day cricket Test.
Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton alleges the accused men planned "substantial" and "unprecedented" Christmas Day attack on Flinders Street Station, Federation Square and St Paul's Cathedral, involving explosives and weapons.

Four men in their 20s arrested in raids across Melbourne's north yesterday have been charged, with one expected to face the Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
