Fisherman saves koala from drowning

A young fisherman has been hailed a 'hero' after risking injury to leap into the water to save a drowning koala.
The young man was fishing with friends in Apollo Bay when he noticed the struggling koala.
He wasted no time in jumping into the water and helping the animal into a lifesaving ring before lifting him to safety.

The koala was unharmed and returned to the bush after his dramatic rescue.
