What cross buns? Vegemite’s surprise spin on Easter classic
Vegemite are no stranger to lending the iconic spread to some questionable recipes, and their latest is sure to provoke some strong opinions.
The company has posted a recipe for cheesy Vegemite hot cross buns just ahead of Easter this weekend.
The fruit-free buns boast a cross made of pure Vegemite on top, and the spread is also infused into the dough.

Hot cross buns are a traditionally sweet dish, so perhaps Vegemite are hoping their savoury alternative will win some new fans looking for a sugar break over the chocolate-filled long weekend.
