Uzi submachine gun and drugs seized in Brisbane raid

Two men have been charged after police allegedly seized semi-automatic firearms and drugs in a raid on a north Brisbane property suspected of being used by bikies as a weapons factory.

The search in bushland at Clear Mountain allegedly uncovered an Uzi submachine gun and five other firearms, as well as ice, cocaine and cannabis.

The joint investigation by police and Australian Border Force members also allegedly uncovered weapons parts and suspect weapons thought to have been manufactured and assembled at the residence.

Police said a 33-year-old associate of the Rebels bikie gang from Clear Mountain was charged with possessing weapons, magazines and ammunition, receiving tainted property and intentionally importing restricted goods.

He is facing 17 charges in total, including a range of illegal importation and possession charges.

A second 33-year-old man arrested on a return to prison warrant faces three charges, including possession of ice and cannabis and obstructing police.

The investigation into the weapons began when Border Force officers intercepted a number of gun parts.

Both men are due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
