US grandmother surprised with musical theatre flash mob on 85th birthday
A US grandmother who has always wished life was “like a musical” has been filmed receiving a surprise birthday flash mob performance.
Maureen St. Pierre has always loved musicals and is a fan of viral flash mob videos, CTV News reported.
“She has always said, 'Wouldn't it be wonderful if life were like a musical?'" proud daughter Danielle said.
To celebrate her mother’s 85th birthday, Danielle decided to organise a special musical theatre flash mob performance at a local park.
A video posted on YouTube shows Mrs St. Pierre sitting down at the park’s rotunda with her family, when a male performer begins belting out “Put On Your Sunday Clothes” from musical Hello Dolly.
He then sings “Listen, Maureen” to which the unsuspecting grandmother’s mouth drops open and she starts crying with joy.
Dozens of energetic performers then join in on the singing and dancing, which crescendos to a rousing interpretation of party-classic, YMCA.
Mrs St. Pierre is shown dancing with glee, clapping and smiling as her musical dream comes to life.
The video has since attracted nearly 20,000 views.
