US authorities are desperately tracking where the missile that shot Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 down over the Ukraine, killing 27 Australians, was fired from.
Officials have been able to use satellites to track the surface to air missile launching before it hits the flight, as well as tracking the flight’s progress before the impact.
They are hoping to trace the trajectory of the missile in a bid to determine where it came from.
It is unknown if the missile was fired by Ukrainian forces or pro-Russian separatist rebels, but Ukrainian authorities have told CNN that a sophisticated BUK surface to air missile system was stolen by separatists two weeks ago.
