Uni fee discounts to be abolished

University students will no longer get a 10 per cent discount if they pre-pay their course fees under a new government proposal.

A measure abolishing the 10 per cent discount to students who make a full upfront payment on their loans is contained in a bill introduced to federal parliament on Thursday.

Students will also no longer receive a five per cent discount if they make a $500 one-off voluntary payment.
