UK firefighters save puppies from barn fire with specially designed oxygen masks

Firefighters in Devon have administered two puppies suffering smoke inhalation with oxygen masks, after rescuing them from a barn fire.

Five puppies were rescued from a burning barn on a farm near Bovey Tacey in Devon earlier this week, Newton Abbot Fire Station wrote in a Facebook post.

While two pups were unable to be saved, three others were resuscitated using specially designed oxygen masks.

The fire station posted images of the firefighters fitting the tiny canines with the masks.

The trio of pups were taken to a local vet for treatment and are reportedly on the “road to recovery”.

The fire station said the new masks were donated only three weeks ago but had already proved their worth.

“Hopefully (they) will save many more loved pets in the future,” Newton Abbott Fire Station wrote.
