Two pedestrians hospitalised in Sydney

Two male pedestrians have been hospitalised after being hit by cars in Sydney overnight.

A 40-year-old man was crossing Campbell Street in Sydney's CBD just before 11pm on Saturday, when he was hit by a silver Mitsubishi Magna sedan.

Police said the car didn't stop and sped off towards George Street.

The man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital but his condition is unknown.

Police are now trying to find the car.

Meanwhile, at 2.30am on Sunday in Surry Hills a 31-year-old was hit by a taxi while he was running across the road.

He was knocked to the ground and lost consciousness before being helped by passersby, police said.

The 31-year-old was also taken to St Vincent's Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for head injuries.

Investigations are continuing.
