Man charged with attempting to murder former partner after allegedly breaking into house with machete
A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly breaking into his former partner's home and threatening her with a machete.
Fraser Thomson, 41, was arrested on Tuesday morning in Kellyville, in Sydney's north-west, and charged tonight with a range of offences, including break and enter and assault with intent to murder.
Police say he broke into the home of his 35-year-old former partner Lauren Salamakis, armed with a machete and carrying a bag full of weapons including hydrochloric acid and hand ties made from rope.

However, Mrs Salamakis' former husband, 39-year-old Paul Salamakis, was staying with her for her safety, and was able to wrestle down Thomson, bear hugging him and holding him until officers arrived.
Both men were taken to hospital for treatment for cuts to their arms, which police said all came from the same knife.
Thomson was under police guard in hospital.

After he was discharged, the 41-year-old was charged with break and enter dwelling and assault with intent to murder, break and enter dwelling and inflict GBH, special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence - wound, and contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO.
He was denied bail and will appear in court on Wednesday.Police said Ms Salamakis was "shaken but unharmed".
Earlier, Superintendent Darren Batchelor said there had been an AVO in place between "some of the parties" involved in the incident.
