Two killed in NSW crash take holiday road toll to 17

Two people have died and three have been injured in a single-vehicle crash in the north west of NSW.

Police say two people died at the scene of the crash near Narrabri this morning, where it appears the vehicle crashed into a tree off the Newell Highway.

Three people have been treated by emergency services and one will be airlifted to hospital while the others are transported by road ambulance.

Investigators are en route to the crash site.

The number of Australians killed on the nation's roads has risen to 17 in the first five days of the holiday season.
