Two killed, driver survives after car hits tree in Darwin

Two men have been killed in a horror crash in Darwin’s north overnight.

Police believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in the crash, but the circumstances surrounding the accident are yet unclear.

The car is believed to have run off the road and hit a tree at 1am.

Two men, aged in their 30s, were thrown from the vehicle and died.

The driver, also in his 30s, survived with minor injuries and has been taken to Royal Darwin Hospital.

Police believe the two men killed may not have been wearing seatbelts.

Superintendent Rob Rennie said it was a “very tragic” crash.
