Driver in horror Melbourne crash that killed two disobeyed road rules, allege police
Police believe speed and disobeying a traffic sign contributed to a horror crash in Melbourne's south-east that killed two people overnight.
A black BMW allegedly sped through the intersection of North and Thomas roads in Caulfield South about 10.45pm yesterday, colliding with a silver Honda that was turning left.
The impact of the crash caused the Honda to roll and its two occupants – a man and a woman – died at the scene.

The driver of the BMW, and his passenger, both men in theirs 20s, were seriously injured during the crash and were taken to The Alfred hospital.
A major investigation is now underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Detective Sergeant Richard Wood said "speed was a contributing factor and so was disobeying a traffic control signal".
North Road only reopened late this morning after being closed for 12 hours.
