Elderly Victorian couple dead after crashing into truck

An elderly Victorian couple has died after their car collided with a cattle truck in the state’s east today.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the Princes Highway, Bairnsdale, about midday after the crash.

Police believe the car turned onto the highway and smashed into the westbound truck.

The man and a woman in the vehicle died at the scene.

The truck driver was not hurt during the incident.

Police are still investigating the incident and have urged anyone who saw the crash to contact them on Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
