Two people assaulted during home invasion in western Sydney

Police are investigating a violent home invasion in western Sydney overnight.

Four men armed with a pistol and pieces of wood forced their way into a home in Edensor Road, Cabramatta West at about 12.30am.

The family of five living there were at home and confronted the gang.

The raiders assaulted a man with a piece of wood and stole his wallet  before pushing his grandmother to the ground and fleeing.

They headed west on Edensor Road towards Meadows Road. No other property was stolen.

Paramedics treated the injured victims at the scene and did not require hospitalisation.

Police has set up a crime scene and begun investigations.
