UPDATE: Three charged over alleged Gold Coast murder

Three men have been charged with the alleged murder of a Gold Coast man who disappeared almost 10 months ago.

Shaun Barker, 33, last seen at a service station in the Gold Coast suburb of Broadbeach on December 10, was reported missing in January.

In April forestry workers unearthed a human skull in the Tin Can Bay area, sparking a more detailed search which turned up more human remains.

The bones were later confirmed as belonging to Mr Barker.

Police found his missing car on the Gold Coast in June, about 20km from where he was last seen.

A 37-year-old Gold Coast man, and two men from Cooloolah Cove, aged 45 and 22, have been charged with murder, interfering with a corpse, torture and deprivation of liberty.

They will face court on Monday.

Detective Superintendent David Hutchinson said the arrests were the culmination of a "comprehensive and protracted" investigation.

The state Crime and Corruption Commission also assisted with the matter by holding coercive hearings from July, he said.

"The CCC's hearings helped investigators to identify those involved in the alleged murder and the timeline of events leading up to it," he said.

Police are appealing for information on the movements of a white 1983 Toyota Landcruiser with the Queensland registration 817SBZ.
