Two people have been treated for burns after a teenager set off a flare at an A-League football match in Brisbane.

Police said a 60-year-old woman received burns to her legs and a 31-year-old man had burned fingers at last night's game between Brisbane Roar and Sydney FC at Suncorp Stadium.

A 16-year-old boy has been dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act for discharging the flare.

Police have used the incident to remind New Year's Eve revellers that setting off flares or fireworks is illegal and can cause serious injuries.
