Twenty charged over drugs at Subsonic Music Festival in NSW bushland

The first day of an electronic music festival held in bushland north of Sydney has seen 20 people charged with drug supply and possession.

Police officers and the dogs raided the Subsonic Music Festival at a resort in Monkerai, about two hours north of Sydney, overnight.

They charged 17 people with possession of illicit drugs including amphetamines, LSD, Ketamine, cannabis and ecstasy.

Three people were also charged with supplying prohibited drugs, and one person over allegedly possessing a laser pointer.

A 30-year-old Erskinville man allegedly found with LSD was charged with deemed supply of an indictable quantity of a prohibited drug.

He has been granted bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on January 9.

“Police are disappointed and shocked with the number of people carrying drugs and personally putting their own health and the health of others at risk," Superintendent Chris Craner said.

“Consuming a prohibited drug is extremely dangerous – you don’t know what is in the drug, how and where it has been manufactured, or what effects it can have on your body.”

The festival runs until tomorrow.
