Turnbull takes a selfie with a robot

There's a first time for everything and for Malcolm Turnbull it includes taking a selfie with a robot.

The prime minister shook hands with the robot Asimo and took a snap of the pair during a visit to Japan's National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation on Friday.

"Perhaps next time he can take a selfie of us," he told reporters.
