Turnbull still getting advice on interests

Malcolm Turnbull has yet to receive final advice on how to best avoid conflicts of interest.

The day after Mr Turnbull became prime minister in September he discussed with the secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet how to properly comply with the ministerial code of conduct.

Mr Turnbull told parliament last week, after Labor questioned his use of the Cayman Islands for personal offshore investments, that he had met all of his public disclosure and tax obligations.

A Senate estimates committee on Monday heard "some" written advice had been provided by the department.

But department deputy secretary Elizabeth Kelly said it was not "final advice".

"Those discussions are ongoing," she said.

"Advice has been provided that requires some additional work."

Ms Kelly said the work was expected to be concluded "reasonably quickly".

Labor senator Jacinta Collins asked for the advice to be released.
