Turnbull set to pass final poll hurdle

Malcolm Turnbull is poised to pass the final hurdle to calling an election.

The House of Representatives passed three budget supply bills on Monday afternoon and the Senate is expected to do the same on Tuesday.

The prime minister will need to convince the governor-general he can guarantee supply - which in this case is funding for the government through to December - before he can seek a double-dissolution election on July 2.
