Turnbull puts his energy plan to voters
WHAT MALCOLM TURNBULL HAS REVEALED ABOUT HIS NEW ENERGY POLICY:
* The Energy Security Board has recommended a way to deliver lower power prices and more reliable supply.
* The policy will help Australia meet its international commitments to reducing carbon emissions.
* Energy companies will have to guarantee the reliability of their supplies and how they will help meet emissions reduction targets.
* The approach is technology neutral and has no subsides, certificates or tax.
* The Energy Security Board says the scheme will give certainty to investors and therefore encourage investment.
* Power bills will be lower than forecast and lower than under a clean energy target.
* The government will work through the scheme with state governments.
