Turnbull ministry sworn in at Canberra ceremony

The new federal cabinet has been officially sworn in at a Parliament House ceremony in Canberra this morning.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced the ministry shake-up yesterday, with the number of women doubled and the instalment of the country’s first female Minister for Defence, Marise Payne.

He also expanded the ministry from 19 positions to 21.

The Governor General, Sir Peter Cosgrove and his wife Lady Lynne Cosgrove oversaw the ceremony which marked the 70th federal cabinet in Australia’s history.

Michaelia Cash - Minister for Women and Minister for Employment

Josh Frydenberg - Minister for Resources, Energy and Northern Australia

Scott Morrison - Federal Treasurer

Kelly O'Dwyer - Minister for Small Business and Assistant Treasurer

Christopher Pyne - Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science

Marise Payne - Minister for Defence
