Turnbull joins ministers at fundraiser

Malcolm Turnbull and a host of cabinet ministers will dine with business chiefs in a bid to boost the Liberal Party's coffers with a series of events in Melbourne.

As the Liberals' Victorian state council meets, fundraising body Enterprise Victoria has organised a dinner with Mr Turnbull and former prime minister John Howard as guest speakers.

The dinner on Friday will mark the 20th anniversary of the Howard government.

Treasurer Scott Morrison is lined up to speak at a lunch, while "senior Turnbull government ministers" are scheduled to be available at a breakfast.

A morning session for Enterprise Victoria members includes Cabinet Secretary Arthur Sinodinos and colleagues Peter Dutton, Mitch Fifield, Josh Frydenberg, Kelly O'Dwyer, Scott Ryan, Alan Tudge, Simon Birmingham and Dan Tehan.

According to its website, Enterprise Victoria is the Liberal party's "leading business networking forum".

"Enterprise Victoria provides the opportunity for senior Liberals to consult regularly with business leaders, as well as practical support for the election of Liberal governments at federal and state levels," the body's website says.

"Supporters have the opportunity and are encouraged to participate in lively debate and share ideas on policy that will help to shape good government."

The fundraising comes as the electoral commission in NSW is refusing to pay the Liberals more than $4.4 million until it reveals the secret donors who poured about $700,000 into the party's coffers ahead of the 2011 state election.

Senator Sinodinos was the party's treasurer and finance director at the time and has unsuccessfully sought a retraction of the commission's summary of facts.
