‘I trust Joe and Joe trusts me’: Turnbull denies claims he misled Hockey

Minister for Communications Malcolm Turnbull has denied trust issues with fellow Coalition minister Joe Hockey.

Hockey: Not Your Average Joe quotes Mr Hockey's wife, Melissa Babbage, asserting the Treasurer “won't trust Malcolm again” following the 2009 leadership challenge.

But Mr Turnbull has told TODAY he made it clear he would be a candidate in the ballot on several occasions.

“It was a very fraught period and it doesn’t surprise me that people have different recollections of what was said.

“What is the likelihood that I would be saying one thing publicly and then giving private assurances to the contrary? And the fact is, I didn’t,” he said.
