Turnbull denies he's 'at war' with Abbott

Malcolm Turnbull denies he is "at war" with Tony Abbott, insisting their relationship is like any other in the federal government.

The prime minister said he remains friendly with his predecessor, a week after attacking him in parliament over gun laws.

"I have a cordial relationship with Tony Abbott, as I do with all of my colleagues frankly," he told 3AW's Neil Mitchell on Friday.

Asked whether he was at war with Mr Abbott, as suggested in recently-leaked talking points for a coalition MP, Mr Turnbull replied: "Of course not."

Friday marks 100 days since being sworn in as prime minister.

This week's Newspoll, though, showed his satisfaction rating was one point lower than Mr Abbott's before toppling him 13 months ago.

But Mr Turnbull reiterated he was not going to be distracted by polls.

"I'm sure the public have a very keen understanding of the fact that the government is getting on the job," he said.
