Trump calls for more Aussie troops: report

Australia has been asked to send extra troops to Afghanistan as NATO nations attempt to combat a revitalised Taliban, according to a News Corp report.

Quoting a senior government source, The Weekend Australian says the US had 'in the past week' sought a guarantee from Australia to contribute, with a decision from the national security committee expected in the near future.

There are currently less than 300 ADF personnel left in Afghanistan, which stands as Australia's longest-running war.
