Driver dead after fiery truck crash

A truck driver has died when his rig left the road and crashed into a tree, before busting into flames on the NSW north coast.

Police and emergency services were called to the scene at Skyline Road, Upper Main Arm, near Mullumbimby, at 2pm yesterday.

The truck had come off the road and travelled down an embankment where it crashed into a tree before catching on fire.

The NSW Rural Fire Service extinguished the fire.

The male driver, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

Police are investigating and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
