Traffic was backed up two kilometres on a major Sydney road after a truck ruptured its fuel tank when it slammed into a median strip this afternoon.
All city-bound lanes have reopened on Parramatta Road in Leichhardt after fire crews cleaned up the spilled fuel and the truck was towed away.

The accident occurred just after 2pm with the truck hitting the median strip, blocking traffic in both directions.
No other vehicle was involved and nobody was hurt.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area if possible, but traffic and bus services are not returning to normal.
