Trio charged with Maitland murder
A woman and two men will be charged with the murder of a 50-year-old man, who died days after he was allegedly beaten in the NSW Hunter region.
The victim was allegedly assaulted by a number of people in East Maitland on March 16.
After feeling unwell a couple of days later, the man told a family member of the alleged assault and was taken to the John Hunter Hospital.
Scans revealed he had suffered a brain injury, and his condition deteriorated. He died in hospital on March 26.
A 49-year-old woman and two men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested by police last month and charged with recklessly causing grievous bodily harm.
After a post-mortem examination, police said they would charge the trio with murder before their appearance at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday.
