Travel from Sydney to Brisbane at supersonic speed with a futuristic hyperloop transport system

Travelling from Sydney to Brisbane may soon be faster on the ground than in the air if a futuristic hyperloop transport system comes to fruition.

A plan to build a hyperloop to link the two capitals could see passengers travelling at supersonic speed and getting to the destination in less than an hour, The Courier Mail reports.

The high-speed rail transport aims to use revolutionary technology to propel passengers in pods through vacuum-sealed tubes.

It would enable travel at 1000km/h and above.

Ultraspeed Australia is planning the inland route from Sydney via Tamworth and Toowoomba to Brisbane – with a spur line to the Gold Coast.

“It can be designed as a commuter solution as well as a long-distance route,’’ director Steve Artis told The Courier Mail.

A trip from the Gold Coast to Brisbane could take less than 10 minutes.

The business model is based on offering fares which match or are cheaper than travelling on public transport such as coaches.

Other routes including a Melbourne to Brisbane Hyperloop network, Sydney to Canberra, and Canberra to Melbourne are also being proposed.

The Sydney to Brisbane stretch is intended to start in the late 2020s.
