Transport union considers industrial action against Qatar Airways

The Transport Workers' Union is considering industrial action against Qatar Airways over the alleged abuse of human rights of Australian female passengers in Qatar.

The TWU is considering banning all servicing, cleaning or refuelling of Qatar Airways planes that fly into Sydney Airport in response to the offences against the women.

The action is being considered by union members after 13 women were invasively searched by authorities following the discovery of a premature newborn in a terminal toilet.

The union says it has been forced to take on the airline in the past for ignoring the international labour rights of its workforce, and they're willing to act again on this issue.

The potential action will be put to a vote on Thursday.
