Sydney commuters are warned to allow extra time to get to school or work this morning with delays on several train lines.

A guard fell onto the tracks at Burwood Train Station earlier this morning, seriously injuring her leg.

She has been taken to hospital now, but emergency services had to work on the tracks for some time, meaning trains were forced to halt.

Services have resumed as normal, but there are delays of 40 minutes on the Western and Inner West trains, and of 20 minutes on the Northern and North Shore line.

Sydney Trains warned on X, formerly Twitter, that travellers should allow extra time and that trains may pause for longer at or between platforms.
