Northbound lanes on Hume Highway near Berrima closed following truck fire

Northbound lanes on the Hume Highway near Berrima are closed after a truck caught fire overnight.
Just after 10.30 last night emergency services were called to the highway after a B-double carrying bags of potting mix caught alight.
The driver attempted to extinguish the blaze but was unable to douse the flames.

Firefighters managed to quell the fire a short time later.
Road diversions are now in place with the northbound lanes closed while the scene is cleared.
Diversions are in place at the Old Hume Highway and Medway Road at Berrima.
Police expect them to be in place for several hours.
The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries to his ears and eyes after an airbag exploded in the fire.
