Truck carrying 42 tonnes of hay overturns in Melbourne
Traffic was disrupted in Melbourne this morning after a truck loaded with 42 tonnes of hay slammed into a bridge and tipped over in Richmond.
Emergency crews were called to Swan Street Bridge, at Punt Road just after 2am after the semi-trailer hit the bridge.
Tow trucks have managed to right the overturned truck but there are still concerns about the hay and diesel fuel that spilled onto the roadway.
The crash caused traffic headaches for commuters heading into the city from the east and south east, with the busy intersection blocked.
Swan Street was closed between Church Street and Punt Road, but has since reopened.
Engineers have inspected the bridge and have deemed it safe.
The driver of the truck was not injured.
