Trade Minister Andrew Robb will lead a 200-strong business delegation to Indonesia in November.
Mr Robb said the delegation was a step towards a formal trade agreement, with what is set to become the world's fourth biggest economy in the next two decades.
"We have got to have a big connection with Indonesia - it is a high priority," he told the National Press Club in Canberra on Wednesday.
