One dead, several injured, in tourist bus crash on Great Ocean Road

Six Korean tourists were on board a mini bus, when the driver lost control along the Great Ocean Road just before 2pm.

It mounted the barrier on the side of the road and crashed through trees before plunging about 20m into a ravine.

Tragically, that fall claimed the life of a woman, believed to be in her 30s.

Four of her fellow passengers were trapped inside that van for more than half an hour after the crash.

SES crews joined police in what proved to be a very delicate, urgent rescue.

Daniel Lasarow, one of the first on the scene, told 9NEWS the husband of the woman was “devastated” and had to be comforted.
