Top Scratch-It winning suburbs revealed

Most of us would recall scratching a scratch-it and winning a few dollars, but it seems more and more Aussies are winning big.

New data released exclusively to A Current Affair shows the new hotspots for winning scratch-it tickets.

Elissa Lewis from The Lott, says millions of dollars have been won instantly in the past 12 months.

“In 2017 it's been a year for instant scratch-its top prizes, they're so popular we've seen 127 instant prizes scratched off instantly," Ms Lewis said.

Andrew Bray was on his lunch break when he decided to spend $5 on some scratch-its.

“I was coming back and forth, buying a couple of scratchies, scratched the first one, won a couple of dollars, and i came back again," Mr Bray told A Current Affair.

He was back in his office when he realised he had scratched $10,000.

“Just in disbelief, going, had a hundred things going through my head, going what am i going to do with this money.”

He bought his ticket in the Brisbane suburb of Bracken Ridge, one of the top suburbs in Queensland, along with Keperra.

“In Queensland, the top region to buy a winning instant scratch was Brisbane’s northern suburbs," Ms Lewis said.

In New South Wales, the most number of wins came from the Central and North Sydney Region, including the suburbs of Maroubra, Chatswood and Manly.

In Victoria, Melbourne’s South East saw the biggest wins, with eight people sharing in $1.2 million, the best suburbs were Springvale, Frankston and Sunshine.

In South Australia, Modbury was the luckiest suburb, followed by Para Hills and Elizabeth.

In Tasmania – Glenorchy took the title.

White in Western Australia, Belmont notched up the most wins.
