Millions of Australians this year went looking for a side hustle to bring in a little extra cash.
Data released by Airtasker shows some of the most popular ways that people did it.

10. Mechanic
Some of the most popular side gigs advertised on Airtasker last year were car-related.
From giving a jump start or installing a tow-bar, people often looked for help from amateur mechanics.
Mechanical jobs were also paid an average price of $239.06 per job last year.
9. Painting
The ninth most popular side hustle was for painting jobs.
This included everything from touch-ups to full house painting, so the average price for a side gig painting sat at $660.66.
Based on Airtasker's data, this was the most lucrative side hustle of the year.
8. Plumber
Another solid side hustle for those with some skills and some spare time was plumbing.
Plumbing side gigs were also paid an average of $261.26.
7. Pick-up and delivery
Picking things up and putting them down somewhere else was a popular but less lucrative side hustle last year.
Often involving driving across town, these jobs paid an average of $133.16 - the lowest on the top 10.
6. Furniture assembly
Another popular side hustle with a relatively low barrier to entry was assembling furniture.
Building flat-packs and similar jobs paid an average of $160.08 each.
5. Waste disposal collection
Getting rid of other people's rubbish or other waste was another of the most popular side hustles of the year.
Waste disposal jobs paid $160.12 on average.
4. General handyperson
General jobs for handypeople around the home were in high demand this year, and paid an average of $312.11.
3. Gardening or lawn mowing
For the green-thumbed people out there, gardening jobs were one of the most popular avenues for making a bit of extra cash.
As the third most popular side gig, people earned on average $191.47 per job.
2. Residential cleaning
The second most popular side hustle last year was resdiential cleaning.
Windows, bathrooms and everything in between were in high demand for those looking to eke out a little more income.
Residential cleaning jobs paid $191.64 each.
