Self-help guru steps in to secure refunds for cancelled Aussie shows

Self-help guru Tony Robbins has stepped in to secure refunds for out-of-pocket ticket holders following the cancellation of seminars in Sydney and the Gold Coast.

Sydney-based event promoter Success Resources Australia sold tickets to Robbins' Date With Destiny and Unleash The Power Within, but both were cancelled due to the pandemic.

The shows were moved online and customers offered complimentary invitations to events next year, but many ticket holders who had spent between $1500 and $8000 to attend the multi-day seminars were demanding refunds.

9News contacted Robbins' office in the US on Tuesday to ask why money wasn't being returned to customers.

It was confirmed today that he is now directing the Sydney-based event promoter to contact affected ticket holders and offer to process refunds.

"As soon as Robbins Research International was contacted, Mr Robbins asked Success Resources to issue refunds … to ticket holders who requested them," a spokesperson for Robbins said.

"It is Mr Robbins' expectation that Success Resources promptly processes all refund requests."

9News understands Mr Robbins was upset to learn the booking company was denying refund requests.

A statement from Success Resources Australia acknowledged the fact some customers found the arrangements for virtual and re-scheduled events unsatisfactory.

"Success Resources apologises to its customers and to Mr Robbins for the confusion and for the delay in processing refunds and is committed to resolving this for all," it said.
