Ex-PM Tony Abbott's daughter competes in second bodybuilding competition

Tony Abbott might be a lifesaver and bike rider, but the real muscle in the family belongs to the former Prime Minister's daughter Frances.

Ms Abbott today took part in the Fitness Expo in Melbourne after making her debut on the bodybuilding circuit only last month.

The 26-year-old, who is based in Melbourne, picked up her second participation medal today after coming in last at the event.

“I haven't worn a bra in well over 24 hours, I smell like four coats of tan and I am dressed like a kung-fu princess in my PJ pants I picked up from Salvos... but this hair makes me feel like Ke$ha and that's exactly the effect I was after.

“Early dinner. Early to bed (I'll be sleeping sitting up) Ready to hit the stage at 12 and 3.15,” she posted to Instagram last night.

Ms Abbott made headlines last month when she publicly disagreed with her Dad and backed the "Yes" campaign in the marriage equality debate.
