Driver charged after toddler dies in Perth hit and run

Police have charged a man after a toddler died in an alleged hit and run accident in Perth.

Police say the 22-month-old boy was run over in front of a house in Dunmore Crescent in Merriwa shortly after 5pm on Friday.

He died in hospital.

The driver involved in the incident, a 30 year old male from Yanchep, has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle, driving Without a drivers licence, and failing to report an incident occasioning bodily harm to police.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Northbridge Magistrates Court today.
