Toddler dies after being found unconscious in backyard pool near Tamworth

A toddler has died after being found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool on the New South Wales' north-west yesterday.
Just before 4.30pm, emergency services were called to a home on Peregrine Avenue, Calala, near Tamworth, after reports a girl was pulled unconscious from a backyard swimming pool.

The two-year-old girl was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Tamworth Hospital where she died.
Officers from Oxley Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
