On the 50th anniversary of the classic film The Sound of Music, the TODAY team have re-enacted songs from the family favourite.

The team joined local kids from the Rockdale Musical Society to sing “Do-Re-Mi”, with Tim Gilbert and Karl Stefanovic in lederhosen particularly passionate about their performance.

Later, Lisa Wilkinson performed a spirited lip sync to iconic song “The Hills Are Alive” as Karl and Tim fed each other grapes, hand in hand.

It was every bit as strange as it sounds, with Lisa openly pondering if today was the moment the show “jumped the shark”.

Released in 1965 and starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, the film was also remembered at this week’s Oscar’s ceremony.

Lady Gaga shed her usual provocative image to deliver a showstopping medley of songs from the musical, drawing praise from none other than Andrews herself.
