The Today hosts have faced off in a very official, take no prisoners dessert decorating competition to celebrate National Donut Day.

But Ally Langdon proved she is not one to be messed with when it comes to a food challenge and top bragging rights on a Friday.

"I tell you what, Karl picked the wrong day to be away," she told viewers.

Culinary star and owner of Bistro Morgan Bakehouse, Morgan Hipworth, was brought in to judge Ally and Charles Croucher, who filled in for Karl Stefanovic this morning.

Both hosts were given a plain brioche donut and a huge array of sweets and spreads to decorate with.

As Charles delicately started dusting his donut with caster sugar, Ally dived right in with the melted chocolate.

"Ooh not bad for a first attempt," Morgan praised.

"This is not my first attempt," Ally assured him.

While Ally applied sprinkles to the top of her donut, she noticed Charles was doing a pretty good job himself with the melted chocolate.

She was in it to win it and ruthlessly reached across the benchtop, swatting Charles' chocolate covered donut out of his hand and onto his Today briefing script.

"You're not competitive at all are you," Alex quipped while munching away at his 'Cookie Monster' donut in the corner.

"As soon as you make it a competition, I go nuts," she said.

But despite her questionable methods, Ally came out victorious with Morgan even offering her a job at Bistro Morgan Bakehouse if she wanted.

"I'm going to say you are definitely way faster and a lot more creative," he said.

"If you fall out of TV presenting there is a job at Bistro for you."

But Charles, holding up his chocolate script, let Morgan know that's what he'd be dealing with if he took Ally on board.

"You'll end up with this kind of stuff all throughout the shop," he said.
