An emotional farewell to Tracy - and a text message explaining why Karl's big boofhead is to blame for 'awkward encounter'
In highly emotional scenes, Tracy Grimshaw was farewelled last night as she filmed her last ever A Current Affair episode after 17 years behind the desk.
Once the Nine icon said her goodbyes and thanked the audience on camera, she was greeted in the corridor outside by producers, directors and other Nine personalities with hugs, kisses and warm wishes.
9News Sydney presenter Peter Overton got a hug, Nine CEO Mike Sneesby got a hug, even Today's own Karl got a hug.

But when Tracy got to Ally, at first glance she appeared to brush off Karl's co-host in an awkward snub. However, all was not as it seemed, as Tracy's hilarious text to Ally cleared up the next morning.
"I'm sorry I missed you," Tracy texted. "I was so overwhelmed and obviously didn't see your petite head once Karl's big boofhead loomed into vision. Argh, big sorry."
"That's the moment my heart breaks," Ally said as Karl replayed the crushing moment on-air this morning.
"Look how red my face is."

Ally said while it was awkward, she was relieved to get that text in the morning.
"It was a very big night, a beautiful night to be part of and I have decided I still love her," she said.
