Today weather presenter Tim Davies has been left red-faced after reliving a shark encounter with hosts Ally Langdon and Karl Stefanovic.

Davies is exploring northern NSW and while in South West Rocks yesterday he went diving with nurse sharks.

It was an experience he enjoyed. But he got a little too excited discussing it — a fact that was quickly called out by Langdon.

"I know you have dived with great whites," Davies told Langdon, adding "but the grey nurse shark is quite something to get up close and personal with.

"Their silhouette just emerges out of the dark and you see that shadow coming towards you and they really do come right up towards you, they are the size of a school bus."

At this slight exaggeration Langdon and Stefanovic started giggling, however an excited Davies continued on — oblivious.

"The adrenaline that is running through you, when you have an experience like that... Stop laughing at me," he said pausing.

"A school bus Tim?", she interrupted, laughing.

"A mini-bus maybe".

"It's a very small school bus," Stefanovic added

"I think you're very brave."

Davies insisted the sharks were massive.

"It is huge. I'm telling you," he said.

Davies conceded he may have over-emphasized their size.

"Okay, it is like mum's soccer van. But it is still big. When you're in the water and there is no cage around you, mum's soccer van, yeah, let's go with that."

"We were with you every step of the way there, until you said they were the size of a school bus," Langdon said.

Scoffing, Davies quipped back.

Davies then revealed an interesting statement Langdon allegedly made.

"No you're not," he said.

"Ally told my producer that she wanted me to get eaten."

'She's like that," Stefanovic said.
